Unfortunately we were blindsided by the announcement from the Governor last Thursday that shops could reopen the 15th. While we were examining the mandates set forth by Governors from other states we were overwhelmed with the different supplies that may or may not have to be purchased. We group texted daily and during these exchanges we felt that it would be best to listen to the guidelines set forth by our own Governor and State Board before we purchased supplies and started to implement procedures that may not be needed. Now with  only one week to prepare to open the shop back up supply stores and warehouses are depleted or the supplies were ridiculously overpriced due to high demand. We have had numerous orders delayed and cancelled this week alone. When compared to the guidelines we have read from other states the draft that we have from our Governor is lacking numerous safety protocols when reading the “Recommended” and the “Mandatory”  guidelines. At our shop meeting yesterday we spent over two hours discussing the various issues opening the shop under these mandates would involve and how we were going to maneuver them and build on them to keep everyone safe. At the end of the day safety is our top priority. During the meeting we also found that we have an issue with our licensure’s that will also delay our reopening. Unfortunately at the conclusion of our meeting the consensus was to wait until June 1st to reopen. This gives us ample time to get our shipments and to continue to put a plan in place for the procedures and protocols that we will in-force for the smoothest transition to safely reopen. However, if we combat these issues prior to June 1st we will definitely open sooner. Even if that means just one barber opening prior to June 1st. So please continue to check our Facebook page for updates!! We recognize that this will not be a popular decision and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. This was a difficult decision to make and we understand the repercussions involved, however we hope and pray you will continue to support our barber shop during this trying time. As always stay safe and God Bless!!  ~ Vic’s Barber Shop
